Jorge Davanzo Hyslop
Rear Admiral Davanzo was born in Talcahuano, Chile on 15 June 1955. After studying at the Saint Dominic's School, Sacre Couer and Liceo Salesiano "San José" in Punta Arenas, he entered the Naval Academy "Arturo Prat", and was commissioned an Ensign on 1 January 1975. He is a specialist in Staff and Submarines. He holds the professional degree of Weapons Engineer with a major in Submarines and he is a graduate in Naval and Maritime Sciences with a major in Submarines and a Master's degree in Naval and Maritime Sciences with a major in Strategy. He is a graduate of the High Command course from the National Academy of Political and Strategic Studies.
Throughout his more that 14 years serving on board, he has been commissioned to Patrol Ship PP "Lientur", Destroyer DDG "Riveros", Submarine Support Ship "Angamos" and the Submarines "O'Brien", "Hyatt" and "Simpson". He was Commanding Officer of Large Patrol Craft PC "Papudo" in 1992 and Submarine "Hyatt" in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
Among his shore duties, we can highlight his performance as Chief, Personnel Department and Military Chief, Submarine Force Commander in Chief HQ; Executive Officer, Submarine Training Command; Director of the Submarine School "Almirante Allard"; Chief of the On-going Projects Department, Navy Directorate of Programs, Research and Development; Chief of Works Technical Inspection, "Neptune" Project in France and Spain; and Deputy Director, Navy Directorate of Programs, Research and Development.
On 22 June 2005 he took over as Navy Director, Programs, Research and Development.
On 30 September 2005 he was promoted to Commodore.
By Executive Decree N°101 from 20 December 2005, the Supreme Government promoted him to Rear Admiral.
On December 2005, he took over as Navy Director, Programs, Research and Development.
He is married to the former Sandra de la Maza and they have three daughters: Maria Jose, Catalina and Sandra.
