Rear Admiral Ivo Brito Sanchez

Rear Admiral Brito was born in Valparaíso on August 3, 1963. After completing his studies at Colegio Seminario San Rafael, he entered the Arturo Prat Naval Academy, graduating as midshipman in December 1983.

He is a specialist in naval aviation, a weapons engineer with a specialization in aeronaval warfare, and an officer of chief of staff, having graduated from the Naval War College in Chile and the Naval War College in Peru.

At the management level, he received a master's degree in naval and maritime sciences and a diploma in upper-level management, both from the Naval War College.

During his career, he served aboard surface units, including the torpedo boat Tegualda, the oiler Almirante Montt, the destroyer Capitán Prat, the service patroller Contramaestre Ortiz, the training ship Esmeralda, and the scientific research vessel Vidal Gormaz. He also served as a pilot, principally in the VP-1 Aeromaritime Exploration Squadron.

Among the most important posts of his career include the following commands: the Northern Aeronaval Group in 2003; the patroller Contramaestre Ortiz in 2004; the Aeromaritime Exploration Squadron in 2005 and 2006; and the scientific research vessel Vidal Gormaz in 2008.

He was defense, military, naval, and air attaché at the Chilean Embassy in the People's Republic of China in 2009 and 2010; chairman of chief of staff of the Third Naval Zone's Chief Command in 2011 and 2012; and director of human resources of the Navy.

On December 3, 2015, he became Commander in Chief of the Third Naval Zone.

On January 1, 2016, he was promoted to the rank of rear admiral by the Chilean government.

On December 1, 2017 he assumes the position of Director of Social Welfare of the Navy.
